Welcome to Colombo. Our representative will meet you at the Bandaranaike International Airport and then you will be escorted to your vehicle and then taken to Kandy to begin your vacation in Sri Lanka.
Tucked away among the hills, Kandy is the last capital of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. Along with being the second largest city in Sri Lanka, it is also famous for its immense beauty and is considered one of the seven UNESCO-declared World Heritage Sites in the country. During our trip from Colombo to Kandy, we will visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Spice Garden. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and care for orphaned, abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch as the caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You will also want to walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephants bathe and play in the water.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will proceed to enjoy the Kandy City Tour. Start your trip by visiting one of the world’s heritages as well as a sacred place for Buddhists around the world; namely, the Temple of the Tooth Relic which is known by Sri Lankans as Dalada Maligawa. Your next visit will be to the Peradeniya Botanical Garden which is a paradise for nature lovers. This beautiful flower Eden has been restored with more than 300 different types of orchids, other spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. More than 1.2 million people visit these 147 acres of flower gardens every year and get mesmerized by the beauty of these 147 acres of flower gardens. The real proof of prosperity will be confirmed by your visit to the Gem Museum. Sri Lanka produces some of the best quality gems in the world. The semi-precious gems, Sri Lankan sapphires, are very exclusive and come in colors like blue, red, green, white, etc. After your visit, you will be safely dropped at the hotel. Dress code for the temple: Wear clothes that cover your legs and shoulders and remove your shoes outside the temple. In the evening we go to watch the Kandy cultural show which showcases various forms of Kandyan dance that were once native to the region but have now spread to different regions of the island.
After breakfast, proceed to Bentota. Arrive in Bentota and spend the day at leisure exploring this beach destination.
After the breakfast, proceed to Kosgoda. Visit Turtle Hatchery. Kosgoda is famous for its sea turtle conservation project operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1988 to protect Sri Lanka’s turtles from extinction. Since then it has released about 3.5 million baby turtles into the wild. The hatchery pays fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the long sandy beach. Although October to April is the main laying season, some eggs (mostly green turtles) can be found at Kosgoda throughout the year.
Proceed to Colombo (Travel time approx: 02 hours). Colombo – Drive from the city center and take you through the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential area, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit the Fort, the former British administrative center and military cantonment, Sea Street – the goldsmith quarter in the heart of Pettah, the market area which houses a Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings and the 1749 Dutch Church of Wolfendahl. Also visit BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square. Later we proceed for shopping in Colombo. Visit ODEL which not only offers unlimited opportunity to shop for designer wear for the whole family but also takes the taste buds on a journey of discovery.
